My health and diet regime has always been one of your most interested topics, but sometimes I felt that I didn’t have enough credibility to discuss some of the articulates. This is why I have asked Lisa, from The Well Necessities, to help me write more about my personal diet and exercise tips and tricks. Stay tuned for some awesome tips and recipes 🙂
Hi! I’m Lisa Hayim, Registered Dietitian, and founder of the private online nutrition counseling business, The Well Necessities. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Psychology from the University of Miami, and then went on to pursue my Master’s degree from Columbia University in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology.
Yup, I really do love food and working out, that much.
After graduation, I opened my practice to help people like you better understand their bodies, and learn how to nourish it for mental and physical health. Nutrition is my passion. Food is our strongest weapon against disease and illness. Not convinced of that food has magical powers? Stick around, and Ill show you first hand that results are achievable through the simple choices we make.
I know how frustrating it is to put hours into the gym, or use willpower and sacrifice to never see the results you want. Drop the frustration, and forgive yourself. You’ve never been taught. The science of nutrition and how the body uses and stores its fuel is complex (like organic chemistry complex). I’m here, for you, to uncomplicated it all, and provide simple solutions that easily integrate into your life.
My personal motto for myself and clients is “Eat Real and Be Mindful.” I believe that these two concepts, coupled together, hold the power to combat disordered eating, chronic illness, and even help with weight loss. The “Eat Real” aspect refers getting back to the basics, and eating foods that are whole and unprocessed. To “Be Mindful” describes the mental state in which you eat food. When we are mindful, we are aware of what we are consuming, and how we are consuming it while paying attention to our satiety, and emotions. While both concepts seem simple, we live in a world saturated with processed food, overstimulated work environments, and rushed chaotic days. Its nearly impossible to identify what real food even is, and even more difficult to slow down and listen to your body.
When Julia contacted me to be a contributing writer for Society Grl, I was thrilled. Julia embodies the beautiful energy and self confidence I hope to instill in all my clients. As a reader myself, I am thrilled to be part of the team!
