Why You Need to Try a Coffee Body Scrub
If you’ve been following me from the Society Girl days, you know I love me some coffee. What can I say, you can take the girl out of Seattle – but don’t you dare touch my almond milk latte! I thought I’d share one of the other ways I love to use my beans.
I use this DIY scrub before I shave, whenever I want to be extra smooth. I was also advised to gently use it after I wax, since the scrub has natural healing properties. The coconut oil soothes and heals irritated skin while the coffee grounds exfoliate and slough away dead skin. The caffeine also stimulates circulation and is said to reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Optional: sugar or salt for a deeper exfoliation
Create a mash-up of grounded coffee beans and coconut oil in a bowl. Since the ingredients will separate, you’ll want to mix this up in the shower right before putting it to use.
Scrub away on dry skin. Let the oil absorb for a few minutes before rinsing off.
Warning: this will make a total mess in the shower. Deal with it. Beauty is (a) pain.
