CALIA by Carrie Underwood – The NYFW Debut

Wednesday, September 16, 2015

My first show of NYFW started out a cold, rainy one, but I thought if anyone could bear the weather it’s a Seattle native. So, umbrella in hand, I jumped into my cab and only 40 minutes of traffic later, arrived at the brand new NYFW “Headquarters” where Carrie Underwood was about to make her NYFW debut.

Unlike a traditional fashion week runway show, CALIAwas debuted in a fun, upbeat presentation format that was divided into 3 different sections. There was even an Instagram station and a model grinding smoothies in a blender by riding a stationed bicycle!2

The presentation began on two different platforms with models doing various exercises and athletic acts to Carrie Underwood’s songs. The collection presented simple tees and tanks that compliment any outfit, yoga pant bottoms which featured a solid colors and a floral print that I’m obsessed with, and accessories such as water bottles, yoga mats, bras and undies, and gym bags. Working full time but also being a full time student I’m always searching for a balance between my pantsuit and my pajamas. “Athleisure” or “fabletics” has been one of my favorite trends for my “real” life. Sure, my Instagram may look perfect but we all know I wasn’t wearing those heels for 8 hours at work.

For me, it’s all about a balance of comfort and style. CALIA definitely captured the essence of being stylish and comfortable – in CALIA it’s easy to step out and attend class, walk around the city, but also have the potential to be the cutest girl at the gym.

Clearly, Carrie understands the need to look chic and comfy, being a new mom, one of the top country singers in the country, and now a new designer all at the same time. I love her in these ad campaign shots – she’s just as beautiful in person!

“We want to make sure you never have to sacrifice fashion for function, or your lifestyle for your workout. These clothes perform as hard as you do in all aspects of your life. Because, just like you, we’re out to prove: strong is beautiful.” – CALIA111

The collection ended with Carrie Underwood joining two models on stage wearing her new swimsuit collection, which will officially debut in Spring 2016.

“We just wanted everything to be fun and energetic, and I feel like we definitely accomplished that,” Underwood told PeopleStyle. “It was nice to kick off fashion week in a fun way and hopefully make everyone smile.”

The best part about the collection? You don’t have to wait until next season to get it. It’s available to purchase online at or exclusively at Dick’s Sporting Goods.
